The navigation menu that used to slide out from the left is gone. The newer Amazon app fits in with today's flat app interfaces. We've compared the Play Store to the Amazon Appstore in the past, but Amazon's option has updated and grown a bit since then. This is probably the biggest contender to the Play Store, as it's the default app store that ships on all Amazon Fire tablets.
